Meet the Team
Dr. Catherine Ellis
Dr. Catherine Ellis is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and a member of the Endocrine Society. She has been in practice since 2008. She completed her fellowship at Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center and her residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Her leadership positions include serving as Director of the Diabetes Center at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Ellis has also received a postdoctoral research training award from NIH for molecular research at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke. She has authored several peer-reviewed journal publications. Dr. Ellis lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and two young sons.
Amanda Thacker, FNP-C
Amanda Thacker is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her master’s degree in nursing with certification as a nurse practitioner at Shenandoah University in May 2022. Prior to that she was a certified oncology nurse graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Shenandoah University in 2014. She also has a bachelor’s degree in health sciences that she earned from James Madison University in 2011. She has worked in patient care for over ten years and is dedicated to providing excellent patient centered care. Amanda grew up in the rural and beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Nelson County, VA where she enjoyed getting outside and exploring her surroundings as much as possible and still tries to get back there often to visit family and kayak or trek through the mountains. She now calls western Loudoun County, Virginia home and lives there with her family. Amanda brings a thorough and comprehensive approach to practicing medicine at Endocrine Health and Wellness, and patients love her ability to be both forthright and compassionate.
Ursa Sylvest, Office Coordinator
Ursa has been with Endocrine Health and Wellness since June 2023. Before joining EHW, Ursa studied sociology at University of Maryland Global Campus and has previously worked as a domestic violence shelter advocate, veterinary technician, and intake coordinator for a behavioral health practice. Ursa lives in western Loudoun County with their husband. In their free time, Ursa enjoys serving as a Unitarian Universalist commissioned lay minister, birdwatching, and gardening. Ursa greatly enjoys helping to facilitate each patient’s individual health journey.
